a pocket full of notes/ Divine's return

[Divine]

Divine after walking for sometime made it to back to the Arcadia Movement HQ. he walked up to the doors, slid his badge
threw the automated card reader. the first door of two hissed open. there was a small air conditioned rotunda between the
first and second doors. as he approached the second door a pair of guards approached. they checked his badge. "never can
be to careful master Divine, welcome back" the guards said as they both slid there badges and the second door hissed open
to the main complex. upon entry to the movement there was a reception desk two elevators and members of the movement
hurrying about with there training, or some even taking a break and comparing cards and stratagys. Divine always
maintained an aura of understanding and caring for the members. did he really care about them, no not really but in order
to advance his goals he had to pretend to.


Divine made his way to the elevator marked basement threw 50, since the Arcadia Movement HQ had more than 200 floors
multiple elevators were required each elevator going only 50 floors, and each elevator having a backup in case of
malfunction or otherwise. Divine entered the elevator and slid his badge, the buttons on the elevator floor selection
screen lit up. all 50 options available, which would make sense, since Divine was the leader of the movement. Divine
pushed the button to descend to the basement.


The wait to descend from the atrium to the basement was not to long. with the high speed elevators 50 floors went
by in a matter of seconds. the doors dinged open at the basement level. Divine walked out and adjusted his tie to be
straight again, the wind had blown it off to the side. Divine reached the main server monitor and it flickered to life. he
entered his username and password. the computer processed the log in information and then displayed the main admin screen.
Divine entered all the new data he uncovered during operation Field Test. the computer printed a small recipt stating the
information was properly imputed and would be added to the records within the hour. then Divine pulled up the personel
records. all the members of Arcadia appeared. he scrolled down threw the list and deleted Blaze's information. he no
longer exists. he never existed.


Divine walked back toward the elevator once more this time his destination was the medical level. he would sign off on
Blaze's "discharge" another trivial task, but one that must be done. Divine pushed the button on the elevator to return to
the rotunda. the medical wing was on ground level under even tighter guard than the main entrance. it was nearest the
street disguised to look like a parking garage so passers by would never know what goes on inside. the elevator dinged as
he reached the ground floor once more. he strode passed several members who were discussing strategy among themselves. he
gave them a courteous smile. "keep up the good work, you all make me proud" he told them as a morale booster. Divine
entered the medical wing, there was one bed occupied, the occupant had a sheet over his head. "when you called you didn't
say it would be this bad" the doctor said with his brow furled "I was unable to explain the situation in full at that
time, you act as thought this is the first case, Doctor" Divine said with a retort. " you know what to do, and if for whatever reason you feel unwilling to accomplish this task, I'm quite sure I can find someone else to do your job" Divine added as he signed off on the paper work to "dispose" of Blaze. he turned his heals and walked out toward the rotunda once more, he was headed toward his office this time at the second to top floor.

Divine entered the one express elevator for himself only, only his badge would open the door, this elevator goes from first floor to 200th with no stops. Divine entered it and pushed the button as the climb began he thought of a book he might read. it only took 5 minutes to reach his office. he entered placed his duel disk behind his desk looked at his bookshelves. he looked out of the window as a few rain drops splattered against the glass as a lightning storm grew off into the distance. slowly making its way toward the city. "good thing I made it back here in time, I would hate to get caught in that" Divine thought as he went to go sit behind his desk and read a book. it was time to relax and he would take full advantage for the day was not quite over yet.

"Very Interesting. Welcome 'Divine' I have been waiting for you to come here." A voice came from the Darkness in the room. "Before there are any 'issues' allow me to introduce myself, I am Nightshroud." He said as Nightshroud's avatar walked from the Shadows. "Have no worry, I come to work with you." He said. He looked over Divine. 'A duelist that uses a Psychic Deck... Interesting.'

[Divine]

Divine almost fell out of his chair as he sat up and looked into the darkness of his office. he felt a twinge of fear run up his spine. the evil he felt in the room was tremendous pure inhuman evil inside his office. Divine stood up with a start his chair falling over with a crash. "your here to help me?" he said swallowing hard. "and you said your name is nightshroud.." he trailed off as he thought "why do I know that name.. it was in the history books... but in this situation I can't think straight" Divine thought as he stared off at the door. there was the vestage of a person or what he thought was a person. instinctively he grabbed his golden duel disk and put it on, he didn't know why either force of habit or something else. "yes I use a psychic deck, it augments my ability's. my deck makes me stronger and hence I make my deck stronger" he said still sizing up the vestige that was speaking with him. "so what do you mean by work with me? whats in it for you?" Divine questioned as he walked over and picked his chair up and sat it behind the desk once more. he was within reach of the phone on his desk should he need assistance, although he had a feeling that it would be meaningless with the power he was sensing from his visitor.

"I have a vested interested in darkening the light. And also for eliminating threats to both of our plans. Like that Jason Anderson you have fought before. Another thing is simple I can give you power, power unlike what you've ever seen. And power to keep control of your organization even better. I'm guessing you have heard of the Numbers correct?" Nightshroud asked he walked to the window and gazed out of it. No matter how this went, soon he would have this organization doing his busywork.

[Divine]

Divine regarded the man. "Darkening the light huh? I don't know about that but I do have an axe to grind with that Jason kid." Divine said as he walked over to the window and looked out as well. the lightning storm was moving even closer to them as they talked, as it went over parts of the town it caused blackouts in its wake. "the number cards, are those the spirits he was talking to? I never got a chance to dig any further, that punk kid beat me." Divine scoffed as he looked away from the window and walked toward the desk. he grabbed the phone off the desk and said "Electrical room, this is Divine blackout incoming, get the backups online I want no power outages" He said sternly into the phone. he put it down and walked back over to Nightshroud. "so, if you grant me this power what does it cost, or what do I have to do.. I'm sure this isn't a gift. there is always a cost" he said as he prepared to weigh his options, although he had the feeling he wouldn't get a choice.

"Simple, I need Duelists that can defeat strong enemies, like Jaden Yuki. As well just cause trouble. Win some duels things like that. I'll give you just a taste of what I can provide for you." Nightshroud turned to Divine and waved his hand and a card appeared from the darkness. He grabbed the card and gave it Divine. "That is Numbers. 69: Heraldry Crest. Can you feel the energy?" The card began to surge energy through Divine, a powerful energy just waiting to be released. But yet the language on the card was strange. Nightshroud waited for Divine to sense the power of the card itself.

[Divine]

Divine saw Nightshroud pull a card from the darkness, naturally the card was black, "a black card? so this is a number card, the one the fool was talking about?" Divine said with a smirk as he could feel the power coming from it a psychic power. "a psychic card, with an effect that negates other xyz cards.. this I like" he said with a cold smirk as he grabbed the floating card. "its power will serve me quite well, and with a card of the same type it will further my research as well. It would appear that we have a deal, Mr. Nightshroud" Divine said not feeling any after effects from taking the card except the beginnings of a stomach ache from being so close to a vestige of evil. he wiped the sweat from his forehead with a napkin that was in his pocket. "does everyone get sick like this when they are near you" Divine questioned as he backed away from nightshroud hoping to get rid of the sickness he is now feeling. "or is it the card he gave me that is making me feel sick? I've never possessed a card like this before. it could be psychic recoil." Divine hoped that meeting this evil deity was not a mistake. as moved over to his chair and sat down. once more taking the napkin and wiping the sweat from his forehead. still watching Nightshroud, but even more so than before he was in no position to do anything to stop whatever he might intend to do.. "so this is how it feels to be powerless.." he thought as he closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead.

Nightshroud shrugged. "It most likely is the shock coming back to bite you. The card shall assist you when you need it, but it does require anger...lots of it to bring it out. I can sense that you have that. I am glad you'll take my offer. But I do want to be sure you will not back out. There is a strong duelist coming, Jaden Yuki, I want you to have him captured. Also to be sure, take this." Another card came out of the Darkness it glowed back but it was blank. "Once you complete 4 missions, this card will grant you the power to complete your wish." He knew all to well that he basically won over this human. Now it was time to defeat the threats that challenged him. Jason Anderson and Jaden Yuki, the only true threats to his plans. Now he can finally use this human and his organization to defeat them once and for all. He now waited for Divine to take the card.

[Divine]

"I have lots of pent up anger and resentment toward the people who put us psychics down as outcasts. refused to
participate in duels with us for fear they would be harmed. now they truly will be. with my power and your card. I will
not be stopped" Divine said. then he thought about what he had said, "I have never been so forthcoming about my motives
before, it as if this card in drawing my inner hatred out. reaching to the recesses of my soul and latching onto my
anger." Divine pondered this meaning "am I using him or is it the other way around. only time will tell"

Soon after this thought Divine saw Nightshroud pull another card from the darkness. it had an even more dark glow about
it. another wave of pure evil buffeted Divine. almost pushing him away. Divine fell to one knee but his motivation for
total power and the corruption building within him from Number 69: Heraldry crest. pushed him to get up and grab the blank
card. "so when I complete my 4 tasks the card that will allow me to complete my wish will be unlocked. so be it" Divine
said with a cold determination. he put the blank card in his pocket. "fine bring forth the first task my destiny awaits"
as his sick feel dissipated when he required the blank card. it was as if the card even in its locked state was a living
entity that also yearned for release. "don't worry my potential new ally, whom ever you might be, we will unlock your power
together" Divine thought.. then he stopped for a second "Did I really just talk to a blank card? I must be losing my
mind.." he shook his head to clear the haze that had befallen him as he needed to be at full strength to beat whom ever
Nightshroud wanted him to capture. Divine prepared his golden duel disk for a fight if necessary

Nightshroud smirked. "That card is now the bond between us, if you keep within our deal, that power will give you all you need to rule and destroy your enemies. But if you decide to betray me, the card will vanish and you will never have your dream fulfilled." He said to Divine. "Now I will give you your first 2 missions: First send your strongest Psychic Duelists and capture Jaden Yuki. And I do not care how you hold him, but keep him from being able to interfere. Next, modify the tournament tomorrow and make one of your best Duelists face Jason Anderson. But he probably will not be able to defeat Jason, so then give this card to him to use to destroy Jason once and for all." Nightshroud pulls another card from the Darkness... A Synchro Monster. "With these defeat all those who will threaten our plans!"

[Divine]

Divine regarded the first command. nothing to difficult. "you want me to capture an old man?, what could he possibly do to stop us" Divine though, he saw old man Jaden quite often. he had good skills as a duelist, back in the day. but the game has evolved to a point that any advice or skills he might have would be irrelevant, or so he thought. Did Nightshroud really see him as a threat or is this some stupid game Divine wondered. Divine looked at Nightshroud as he once again pulled a card from the darkness, a synchro monster who's power was able to negate Jason's deck. Divine almost wanted to take Jason on personally, to settle the score. but a true master must remain behind the front lines. Divine regarded the card with amusement and then placed it onto his desk, until he would be able to select a duelist worthy of the honor of attempting to defeat Jason.

then he reached into his pocket once more looked at the blank card and heaved a sigh, "if he wants me to capture the old man so be it" Divine thought as he looked toward Nightshroud and said "I shall have both done soon, the old man will be kept in the basement, shall I torture him also?" he said with a hint of sarcasm not fully understanding what the old man was or is capable. "as to your second task, I will have to look at my personnel files, and select a duelist capable of handling that monster" Divine said as he walked toward the entrance of his office. and walked out toward the comm area. he tried to think of a way to get Old Man Jaden to come to the movement without force. "yes I've got it. the old man is so set against synchro monsters I shall invite him to the movement to discuss Fusion monsters and there ability. the old fool will never suspect my true intent. Divine picked up the comm-center phone pushed a button. it led directly to sector security home office. "Goodwin? yes I'm sure you are aware of who this is. I am in need of an escort of a certain person to the movement for a speech we had previously arranged" Divine lied "its Old Man Jaden, in his age he might not remember our engagement. please remind him for me" Divine said with a small chuckle.

Divine walked back into his office and looked off toward Nightshroud "security will be bringing old man Jaden here momentary. its good to "friends" in high places at security office" Divine chuckled. I checked the personnel record and came to the conclusion that Marius would be the best choice for the duel against Jason, he uses a deck almost like mine so the monster should work well with his deck. I shall loan him my thought ruler as well so that I can be there psychically during the duel this time as well." Divine said as he paged Marius to prepare for a trip.

Divine sat behind his deck in his chair pulled his keyboard out. he tapped several keys into the computer. he was into duel stadium's duel matrix. several more key taps and he was into the duel match randomizer matrix. he edited the file so that no matter what the other matches Marius would face Jason first round. Divine closed the program on his computer and pushed his keyboard back into the desk. "Marius will face Jason tomorrow when the tournament starts no matter what the other pairing might be." Divine chuckled as he could hear sirens off in the distance. "it would seem your esteemed guest is arriving, do you want to go meet him at the medical wing, im quite certain he would be happy to meet you." Divine said as he pulled his chair out and sat behind his desk once more, confidant that his expediency with the first 2 tasks would impress Nightshroud.

Nightshroud nodded, "do not underestimate the old man." He warned, "Even though you have been infused with Darkness, he has powerful monster spirit allies which also give him psychic abilities. He must not know that I still exist... Not yet. But for now we need him in a comatose state or dead. When he is as such, then your first mission will be complete. I will return once the duel against Jason has been completed. Until then I shall be watching." An after saying that, Nightshroud's body seemed to disappate into nothing but darkness and his presence left the room.

[Divine]

Divine looked at Nightshroud as he began to dissipate "your lucky you have something I want. I have never taken orders from
anyone before. I made this movement and you think you will be my boss?!" Divine scoffed "as soon as I have the power of
the Blank card... my dark reign will begin, and there will be.. no place for you" Divine mused to himself "for now I will
do as the dark one says.. for now" Divine calmed himself down, the last thing he needed was too get over stressed out.
Divine slid his badge at the his office door and it clicked open, he proceeded to enter his elevator and go down to the
main floor again to meet old man Jaden, and put him off to a nice dream. Divine didn't want to kill him, not yet.

The elevator reached the bottom floor with a hiss, the door opened slowly as Divine walked with purpose toward the
medical wing where security was unloading the "cargo." Divine walked into medical. he saw old man Jaden, surprisingly he wasn't really as old as Divine had thought. he was in his mid 60's give or take some years, at this point Divine didn't really care, he wanted the power of the blank card. and Jaden stood in his way. Divine adjusted his tie and approached the older duelist. "I trust you didn't forget about the speech you were going to deliver to the Movement members about the power of fusion monsters?" Jaden looked puzzled by Divine's lie "Did I promise you that?" he muttered as Divine waved a hand below his neck out of Jaden's view it was a signal to the staff to prepare a hypo of a very strong sedative. one that would keep Jaden under for quite some time. "why yes you did Jaden." Divine said with feigned reverence as he turned his attention back toward him. "we had made this reservation quite sometime ago, but I realize your a very busy man, so if you walk this way we can give
your speach and you can be on your way" Divine said almost pushing the old man toward the middle of the medical wing. as
Divine guided Jaden one of the nurses shoved the hypo into Jaden's neck. he started to fall over almost instantly. your
duel spirts can't help you now,can they? you have made a powerful enemy. but worry not.. I will... keep you safe here for
the moment.." Divine said to Jaden as he slipped into the medically induced coma.


Just as the medical staff finished putting Jaden into a bed with straps so in case he woke up he couldn't escape. he felt
a cool mist go up his spine. instinctively he pulled the blank card from his pocket. to his surprise it was no longer
completely blank. the bottom left corner filled in. no picture of the monster was visible. Divine put the card back into his pocket, he was slightly perturbed but was not about to give up on his most likely course to his hopes and dreams.

"We'll see" Nightshroud replied as his presence vanished.

Nightshroud appeared again at his Duel Runner outside of the building. "That went really well." He said to himself as he got on his Runner and road off into the night. "That fool Divine can think he is in control all he wants, but by the time he fulfills the requirements to acquire that card, he will be addicted to the power and will be more willingly to 'partner' up with me." He said to himself as he rode off into the Darkness, looking for his next victim.

Just when Divine thought it was taking effect, Jaden's left eye turned Green and the right turned orange for a moment as Divine is thrown back. "You were right Yubel, this was too suspicious." He said as he took off the mask to reveal a face is looked much younger and fixed his hair. He looked like he was in his twenties or thirties. "So you're Divine. I was wondering why you wanted me of all things. I've been concerned by your 'secret operations' well, I guess now is the best time to topple your little empire. And to make sure you can't run away." Jaden threw a device that linked to Divine's arm. "No matter what you do, that's not going to release until we finish a duel." Jaden took his backpack off and pulled his duel disk out and put his deck in his disk and activated it. "So do you accept? If I win,I walk out of here Scott free, if you do, I'll go with you. Deal?"
