Operation Field Test

It was a brisk autumn day in Neo Domino city, a cool but gentle breeze rustled the leaves in the trees lining the walking path to duel area. There was a tournament being held their. Divine had knew this tournament would be held almost a week in advance, it gave him enough time to prepare several of his Arcadia movement members to enter the tournament. “with my members in this tournament it shall give us free advertising” Divine laughed as he watched many of the entrants walking threw the door to the prep room. What few people outside of the Arcadia Movement didn't know is that all psychic duelist are able to telepathically link their minds without drawing suspicion. Divine walked toward one of the trees swaying in the breeze and closed his eyes. “Blaze? Can you hear me?” Divine said telepathically “yes I can here you.” came a response. “there are many people entering this tournament I want you to win in the name of Arcadia with the deck the moment has supplied you, any result except victory will be unacceptable. Do I make myself clear” Divine said after a few moments he received the answer he was waiting for “I will win in the name of Arcadia” Blaze said.

Blaze got his code-name from a fire that had broken out in his housing unit in Neo Domino. Divine happened to be in the area and with his psychic powers was able to save the boy, who conveniently a week earlier had begun to manifest signs of psychic abilities. Their were rumors that Divine and a few Arcadia Movement members had set the fire.. they were “dis proven” very quickly by sector security, no explanation was given just that Arcadia and its fine upstanding membership would never put anyone's lives in danger... ever.. two days later a “suspect” was found charged and taken too the facility and all the people who claimed they saw Divine set the fire were never heard from again.

Blaze was a calm and collected duelist who's power was matched by his ego. He like Divine saw all non psychic duelists as pathetic and weak. His motivation for victory was above all to bring honor to the one who saved his life and trained him in the use of his psychic power. It was a long road getting from that day to now, but he was ready, and defeat in his mind was out of the question.

Divine left the shade area by the tree he was standing under and walked to the private observation deck he had prearranged to have all to himself. Without distraction he would be able to observe and concentrate much easier on the duels. Divine walked into the very plush observation deck, it had many leather chairs and sofa's private restroom and drink dispenser. Divine walked over to the drink dispenser and got a beverage he opened it and sat down on the black leather sofa closest to the window and looked down at the duel field. The opening ceremonies were beginning. Divine sat back and watched with keen interest at the contestants walking out onto the field.

Jason walked towards the arena when he noticed Blaze standing there, wondering who he was, he walked over to the guy. "Hi, who might you be?" he asked.

[Divine]

Divine looked threw the glass window and saw a young man walk out onto the field after Blaze. Divine had never seen him before. he closed his eyes and created a psychic link with Blaze taking over his thoughts and actions.

Blaze looked over at the approaching stranger. "I am Blaze, of the Arcadia Movement. I have entered this tournament to gain victory for our cause. and you might be?" he said eyeing the stranger with a hint of mistrust.

Divine broke the trance and gave control of Blaze's body back to him for the time being, "find out any information you can about him. Arcadia Movement computers have no information. until we have a complete file on him treat him as an enemy of the movement, we can't take any chances. Divine out" Blaze gave Divine the answer he was looking for an unequivocal yes, most Arcadia movement members were never allowed to leave the movement with rare exceptions, Divine was a master of keeping back information and he would not allow all of his years of hard work to be wasted by a careless statement by a low level member.

Divine stepped away from the glass and took a drink of his water a stadium butler had placed on a end table for him.

"Name's Jason, Jason Anderson. I'm a Duelist also here entering the tournament. I'm here helping a friend find a set of dangerous cards called the Numbers, also to find better cards for my deck. Numbers are cards that have strange abilities and at times seem to actually possess their owners. All of them are also those new Xyz Monsters too. Well, if you joining the Tournament, why don't we duel to practice for the tournament?" Jason offered. He did not know what the Arcadia Movement was, but he soon would find out of their dangerous motives. "Also, what is the Arcadia Movement? Is it some kind of school?"

(Just wondering, but would Divine's systems know that Jesse Anderson had the Legendary Crystal Beast deck?)

[Divine]

Blaze looked off into the distance. directly at where Divine was sitting. Divine gave a slight nod almost imperceptible if you weren't looking for it. "Alright Jason, I accept your challenge. as a top member of Arcadia my skills are formidable" Blaze said with a grin as he brandished his duel disk and inserted his deck.

Blaze took a duel stance raised his duel disk up and pulled 5 cards from it. "since you challenged me I shall take the first move" Blaze said as he drew a sixth card into his hand. Blaze studied the cards very carefully. "I shall start this duel with the tuner monster Krebons. it has the effect of negating attacks for the small price of 800. I shall set 2 cards face down and end my turn" Blaze said with confidence

Jason quickly pulled his Duel Disk out. As most could now see, it was an Academy Disk with blue edges. He put his deck in which activated the disk. He drew 5 cards.

'2 Facedowns and Krebons... Hmm...' Jason thought. He looked through his hand, not much to stop the attack-stopping Tuner, but then again he saw a few possibilities in his Hand too. All he needed was a good draw.
"It's my turn! I draw!" He said aloud as he drew his card. 'Perfect!' He thought to himself. 'This will work!'

"I summon Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus in attack Mode! Which means his ability activates: I can place 1 "Crystal Beast" Monster in my Spell and Trap Zone like my Crystal Beast Amber Mamoth!" The Pegasus appeared and his horn glowed. Then suddenly an Amber Crystal appeared on the Field. "Now I activate Crystal Resonance. So because I have a "Crystal Beast" Monster, I get another Crystal like my Crystal Beast Amethyst Cat!" an Amethyst crystal now also appeared on Jason's field. "Next up because I have 2 "Crystal Beast" Spell cards; I can play Crystal Beacon! Now I can Special Summon the Tuner Monster; Hidden Crystal Beast Quartz Fox!" A small fox suddenly appeared on the Field. "And this fox has more power then he looks, just watch: I activate his Special Ability! Quartz Reflection! So now my Fox is a WIND Level 4 Monster!" The Fox's Crystals turn Green. "Now I Overlay my WIND Level 4 Hidden Crystal Beast Quartz Fox and my WIND Level 4 Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus! With these two Monsters, I'll build the Overlay Network and Xyz Summon the power of Thunder itself! I Xyz Summon Lighting Chidori!" A creature made of electricity arises roaring causing a thundering sound.

Jason smiled confidently, "now your in trouble! First my Chidori's effect sends that face-down on the left to the Bottom of your Deck!

Blaze gritted his teeth when Lightning Chidori was summoned. "no my facedown!" he yelled out as his card on the field disappeared back to the bottom of his deck. "A very powerful effect, but my Krebons can still negate attacks even without my traps. attack all you want but the result will be the same." Blaze lashed out defiantly "I have seen into the future, my victory is as assured as I stand before you" Blaze said pointing to the temple of his skull. "finish your turn I grow tired of your weak and pathetic monsters. I will show you a force you have never yet bore witness to on my turn" Blaze yelled with an arrogant laugh as he mulled the options that would be presented before him on his turn, calculating how to destroy the monster on Jason's field.

Blaze quickly glanced up at the window hoping to get a glance of Divine, but he was not their at the moment. "I hope he is watching, I will crush him in the name of Arcadia" Blaze thought as he once again looked forward to the duel taking place, things did not look good at the moment, but the unpredictability of a psychic deck may yet work to his advantage. he looked down at the cards in his hand and plotted the moves he would make on his turn

"I would still be worried if so were you because Chidori has a second effect. You see by detaching 1 Overlay Unit from him, your Krebrons, returns to the top of your Deck!" Then one of the two comet-like objects orbiting Lightning Chidori was absorbed by the Monster, then it roared at Krebons sending it back to his Opponent's Deck. Now all was set.
"Lightning Chidori, attack Blaze directly! Thunderbolt roar!" The monster roared and a giant Thunderbolt came from its mouth right towards Blaze. 'Perfect, I'll start out by taking the lead!' Jason thought.

[Divine]

Blaze watched as a lightning bolt streaked across the sky toward him. he raised both arms up in the shape of an "X" in order to defend himself from the incoming attack. very soon after the lightning struck and his lifepoints dropped by 1900 to 6100. "your going to have to do better than that. you just caught me off guard with your effect." Blaze spat as he stood straight up "so you took an early lead, big deal, its a long way to get down to 0 with a monster that only has 1900 atttack" Blaze said as he prepared to take his turn. "go ahead and end your turn I will show you the power of my deck"

"Alright! I took the lead! Now I just have to keep it. And I think this Facedown will help me do just that!" Jason places 1 card Facedown on the Field and ends his turn.
'I wonder if those moves impressed him? I hope so! Because that was an awesome combo!' He thought to himself. Number 44's spirit as well as the Spirit of Sapphire Pegasus appeared. "Be careful" Sky Pegasus said, "yes," Sapphire Pegasus added, "I'm sensing something strange come from him. I'm not so sure he's telling us all he knows."
"Indeed." Number 44 added, "This duelist is more dangerous then he seems. I can't sense a Numbers Monster, but some other power I can sense, keep you guard up Jason!" The Number warned. Jason looked confused, but he always trusted them, so he nodded and waited for Blaze's turn.

Blaze looked down at his duel disk as he prepared to take his turn. "it doesn't take a psychic to know what card I will be drawing this turn" he said with a smug chuckle. As he drew "ore no tame" he said as he once again drew krebons into his hand. "its really a shame that you sent the left facedown to the bottom of my deck. It allows me to activate the one remaining on the field. I activate the quick play spell emergency teleport. It allows me to special summon a level 3 or lower psychic monster from my hand or my deck. The monster I shall target with this effect is the Krebons I just drew back into my hand"

Blaze looked across the field as once again Krebons was standing on his side of the field once more, but this time it was different, he had not yet used his normal summon. Blaze waited to see if his opponent would use his facedown card before he would continue his turn

Jason smiled confidently, because now he was sure that the facedown he did not hit was not going to hurt him. "If your expecting me to do something, I'm not." he told his Opponent.

Sky Pegasus looked at him with concern, "You know that because that was a Special Summon, that means he can Summon again correct? Plus he may be able to Synchro Summon this turn. Or if he some Number, he may be able to pull it out now." he warned his owner.

Jason nodded, "I know that. But I still want to see all he can do. What fun is there in a Duel if I can't at least see my Opponent's best monsters?"

Sky Pegasus nodded, "Just be careful."

[Divine]

Blaze looked down at his hand with a grin "Since I have a psychic monster on my side of the field Armored axxon kicker is able to be summoned with no tribute required. (level 6 2200/1800) a giant monster with purple hands and numerous wires connecting to the back of his skull appeared on Blazes field. "you will now bear witness to one of the most powerful psychic monsters in existence, this monster is on loan to my from my master Divine himself. Blaze prepared to summon the card, but a sudden fear gripped him "am I really ready to try to control the Thought ruler? I have to be Divine trusted me with it. he wouldn't let me use a card that I cant control would he?" as he thought back to the rigorous and even painful training with the spell card Psychokinesis

Divine watched from the skybox seeing that all the pieces of this operation are falling into place. "lets see if he can even try to control the thought ruler, so far all other experiments have resulted in coma and in some cases worse" as he thought back to some of the much weaker psychics that had disgraced the Arcadia Movement. "I hold out hope that there is more than just me that can control that monster" Divine thought as he sipped his tea and looked back down to the duel taking place.

"I shall tune my Krebons and my Armored axxon Kicker (2 + 6 = 8) to synchro summon. a pause as Blaze dropped to one knee. "I can summon it, I must I don't want to disappoint master Divine" Blaze thought as he stood back up obviously in a form of psychic shock. "To syncro summon Thought Ruler Archfiend" Blaze yelled out in obvious pain as he said it. as the great psychic beast took shape on his field.

"Wow! Now that's a cool Monster!" Jason said as he saw the new Monster. When he saw the Monsters' ATK that surprised him too. "Wow, that's quite a bit of ATK too."

"Be careful, because you cannot target it with any effects, if you do, he can just negate it by paying 1000 Lifepoints. Also, if that Monster defeats your's, he will gain LP equal to your Monster's ATK." Sky Pegasus warned.

"Well that's a pretty bad Special Ability..." Jason mentioned. "Not to mention that I can't stop this attack too!" He said, looking concerned. "But that's still an awesome Monster! I can't wait to see how I can take it on!"

[Divine]

"I'm glad you can truly appreciate the power of this monster. Every time master Divine brings out the thought ruler. His opponents cower in fear before it. Sometimes the duels never even get a proper ending because they just forfeit right on the spot" Blaze said with a chuckle "as I'm sure you already know Thought Ruler can negate any effect that target a psychic monster on the field. So I don't fear your facedown card as much now."

Blaze pointed at Jason's monster and commanded "Go Thought Ruler Archfiend attack his monster with Mist of Vengeance" with that said the mighty psychic monster threw open its wings. Let out a ear piercing screech, that caused even Blaze to cover his ears for a moment. And released a wave of black mist aimed directly at Jason's Lightning Chidori. When Blaze looked up after having his ears attacked by the screech. He watched as the attack grew closer to Jason's monster


OOC: since Blaze is mearly a placeholder. The fact that psychics usually hurt their opponents with their power is not necessary in this case I will leave the decision up to you.)

Jason watched as his Chidori is destroyed by the attack and as the power of the Psychic began to blow at him, but suddenly the two Crystals in his Spell/Trap Zone noticed the danger as well as Sky Pegasus.

"Jason!" Sky Pegasus shouted as the power came at him, but suddenly Amber Mammoth's spirit appeared and took the brunt of the Psychic attack. The spirit is visible to everyone then.

Jason looked at Mammoth, "Thanks Mammoth." He turned over to Sky Pegasus, "So what was that?"
"That was the power of a Psychic duelist. But it seems that he is not a powerful one, but what we just felt was residual energy from within that card. This duel just got more dangerous..." Number 44 replied to Jason.

Jason turned back to Blaze. "So your a Psychic Duelist aren't you?"

(OOC: I'll just go with the explanation Sky Pegasus said. There is also residual energy within Thought Ruler and so the Psychic energy attacked at Jason. But also Blaze should have seen Amber Mammoth's spirit block the Psychic attack, but I don't know if he would have any idea of what that is... Yea, that would definitely be your choice.)

[Divine]

Divine's attention was once again drawn to the duel. The loud scream of his ace monster caused him to put down his tea and walk to the window. Just in time to see the attack declaration and the explosive cloud of dust after the attack. Divine's psychic power allowed him to see threw the thick dust, and what he saw gave him pause. "duel spirits are real?" he stammered. "I have heard much of their existence but never paid attention, this requires a further review.

Divine sat down in his chair focused intently on Blaze. All members of Arcadia when they are "in training" are implanted with psychic suggestions. This allows Divine should the need arise to take control of their minds and body's. There is a cost associated with that use. The psychics mind is overloaded and causes severe and most times irreripable damage Divine knowing the risks and the fact Blaze is expendable did it anyway.

Blaze fell to his knees screaming in agony as Divine took control, it lasted only a moment. Divine's power overwhelmed him in a matter of seconds. "Blaze" stood back up brushed off the dust. "yes I am a psychic duelist. And I just saw that spirit thing. It appears we both have some secrets we hold don't we?" "Blaze" Laughed "care to explain what that was or must I force the information out? Either way will be acceptable to me" Blaze said with a hint of disgust

Jason looked his Opponent over, something seemed strange about him all of a sudden. Not just the sudden scream in agony but the sudden dark personality he seemed to have... "That was the spirit of Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth, he protected me from your Psychic attack. Somehow the attack must have made him visible... but how exactly I do not know. But one thing I can tell. Who are you? You don't seem to be the Duelist I was just dueling! Blaze seemed to have more honor and interest in his Opponents." he declared, kindof hoping that he was right. But on the other hand, who knows who this was, perhaps he just hated people like Jason who could communicate with Monster Spirits. He shrugged off the idea. He just wanted to know what was with this sudden change in personality.

[Reimi Saionji]

Winning her duel nearby, Reimi deactivated her duel disk and walked away from the field. As she was leaving the arena, she saw two other people dueling and also saw a monster she didn't like. Standing and watching from the sidelines, Reimi looked at the participating duelists and sensed something dark and evil coming from the only monster on the field.

[Divine]

"My name is Divine, The True master of the Arcadia Movement. The Blaze you were dueling is gone. his personality has been repressed, to suit my needs. for you see. I seek information about these duel spirits. and you happen to have at least 1 protecting you. I have heard of people being able to speak to these spirits but up until this point I have seen them as delusional fools" Divine said "if just the residual energy in my Thought Ruler Archfiend could draw out those duel spirits perhaps a full frontal assault would bring me the answers I seek" Divine pondered

although his powers are limited while controlling another body, coupled with the residual energy in his thought ruler he would get the answers he seeks or Blaze's body would give out first. "Do to the effect of My Thought Ruler Archfiend I gain a lifepoint boost equal to its original attack. and that would be 1900." Divine said "do you feel helpless yet? knowing that your attack was for nothing? your messing with forces you can't possibly begin to understand" Divine laughed "I wish to see your duel spirits make their appearance again, and I will do whatever in necessary to see them come forth" Divine said with a very serious edge in his voice.

Jason laughed. "I got ya! Time for your Monster to go bye-bye! I activate my Counter Trap! Guess what, the God's are unhappy with your Archfiend! So now their Judgement shall rain down on him!! Because I'm activating Divine Wrath! You see when you activate a Monster's Special Ability, this Trap card negates that effect and Destroys your Monster by simply Discarding 1 Card. And it's a Speed Spell 3 so you can't use Thought Ruler Archfiend's Effect to negate it!" He discarded a Monster card in his hand as a load of clouds rumbled and then lightning hits Thought Ruler Archfiend as to disintegrate the Monster.

"Good play, that creature would have caused trouble for us." Number 44 mentioned to Jason who smiled and held up the peace symbol.

[Divine]

Divine saw a bolt of lightning streak from the sky. In a flash of light his ace monster was gone his field completely empty. Divine grumbled audioably "so your deck does have a few tricks to it doesn't it, no matter all I need is one card to summon an even more powerful beast. That not even your duel spirits will be able to protect you from. But for now I will let you enjoy your minor victory" Divine said with an arrogant grin.

Divine looked at the 2 cards in his hand. Nothing he can use for the moment. "with no monsters on his field it is likely he will not be able to do much damage to me. With 6100 life points I will be fine for the moment" Divine though

"I end my turn, and do make this interesting to the crowd of people watching this duel. I would hate for them to be disappointed with your performance when you lose" Divine mocked as he pointed to the crowd beginning to surround them.

Jason smerked, "Sorry, but I'm not planning on losing just yet." he said as he prepared for his turn. "Its my turn! Draw!" He drew his card. "Perfect this will work!" he exclaimed. "Get ready for one awesome turn! I'll start off by playing Crystal Blessing. So now I get to take 2 "Crystal Beast" Monsters from my Graveyard like my Quartz Fox and Amythest Cat and place them in my Spell and Trap Zone as Spell Cards. Then its time for a change in scenery... I activate Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins!" a set of temple ruins suddenly surrounds them as the Gems in his Spell and Trap Zone suddenly glow.
"Welcome to Rome, well, its ruins at least. This Field Spell is going to help me quite a bit, You see for each Crystal Beast Spell Card I control, I get an effect of Ancient City - Rainbow Ruins. Right now I have 4. So Once per turn, I can Draw 1 Card." Jason draws his card and smirks. This will be quite fun! I activate Rare Value! So now I can trade in 1 Crystal Spell card to Draw 2 cards! The only side effect is you get to choose which Crystal is sent to my Graveyard." Jason then waited for his Opponent to reply.

[Divine]

Blaze/Divine looked at field spell that had been activated. He was not impressed with the scenery. "I choose to send your fox to the grave,where it belongs" Blaze/Divine said with a smirk. "all these monsters as spells serve no purpose, they disgust me with their weak and useless power"

The Quartz Crystal vanished to the Graveyard, and Jason drew 2 Cards. Jason smiled and couldnt help but burst out laughing. "Wow, my deck seems to want to end this quickly. I activate Monster Reborn! Welcome back my Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus! Plus his effect brings Ruby Carbuncle to my Spell and Trap Zone! Next I summon Summoner Monk! And I'll activate his effect, you see by simply discarding my Crystal Tree Spell, I can Special Summon Mist Valley Solider!"

Just as Jason announced his monster, a Mist came through the area, as it dissipated a Warrior stood ready for battle. "Also, I forgot to mention, my Solider is a Tuner Monster so get ready because I'm tuning my Level 4 Summoner Monk and my Level 4 Mist Valley Solider!" Mist Valley Solider turned into tuning waves, which attuned to Summoner Monk's stars. "Let the clustering of stars bring forth a new creature! Forged from Scrapmetal it rises with the force greater then the fiercest dragon! Rise and show the true power of Scrap! Scrap Dragon!" The new Synchro Monster appeared, blowing smoke from its mechanized nostrils and roared a great bellow. "And you wanted to see the power of a Monster spirit up close and personal? Fine then I'll enlighten you! Let's go Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus show him the power of a Monster spirit and attack this Impostor directly with Sapphire Horn strike!" The Pegasus charged in for a Direct Attack.

"Scrap Dragon! Don't feel left out of the party, Attack him Directly with Scrap Blast!" Jason added, then the steam stopped for a moment as the Dragon lifted up his head and charged a blast within its mouth and released it against Blaze/Divine.

"If you liked that, you'll love my next turn! But for now I'll leave ya at that! Your up!" Jason told the villain showing that his turn was done.
