Don Russo sat up as he heard his name and his opponent. "Yuzuki?" he wondered, "never heard of him. this should be interesting" Russo mused as he gathered his cards put them back into his duel disk. Russo got up from the bench stretched his back and proceed to walk toward field 3, the location of his duel. he took up his position at the far end of the field. rolled his neck around twice, then cracked his knuckles, it had been quite awhile since Russo had dueled in a place like this. usually it was out in an alleyway or the house of someone who had not paid the money they owed to Russo's crew. Russo awaited his challenger with a friendly smile. even thought he was outwardly happy, in his mind he was uptight about the tournament. he needed the money to continue his and his crews way of life.

As soon as she entered the arena and saw her opponent's face, she almost cringed. 'Great... it's that 'tiny' guy. At least he seems to be happy... either he is just carefree or is looking down on me.', she thought to herself as she approached her position. Looking at her opponent, she tipped her hat and flatly stated, "Don Russo, I presume? Let's get started." Simple formalities finished, Yuzuki reached for her deck, set it into her duel disc, and then plainly asked, "So, who should go first?"

Russo watched as Yuzuki approached, did the hat tip. "why yes, I am Don Russo. I can see you want to get straight to it, good show. you may go first" The Don said with the same smile, but soon it began to run from his face."it would appear that my opponent is not one for pre-duel conversation, which is fine the sooner I win the sooner I am one step closer to the money." the Russo thought for a moment "does she perhaps know of my career choice?" Russo pondered only a moment, he did not really have time to care if she knew he was a crime boss or not. as he prepared to see what he would be facing up against.

Seeing the smile vanishing from the face of her opponent has actually made Yuzuki feel more at ease. This isn't exactly a place to be friendly, after-all, since all she is after is victory. Her starting hand though, has left her a little perplexed. Should she go for the safer option, or the riskier option...? Given that this is the first turn and she has no information about her opponent, she decided to look at his facial expression to see if it gives anything away. Since it didn't, she looked at her opponent and stated rather blandly, "Let's start off simple. Set 1 monster and 1 card in the M/T Zone and I shall pass the turn to you."

Russo drew his opening hand, he was not exactly impressed with his hand. "its my turn now I draw." Russo said as he drew a 6th card into his hand. "should I play aggressive or defensive" Russo thought for a few moments and came to the conclusion that a defensive play would be best. "I shall summon the Warrior Marauding Captain. and do to his effect I can special summon a level 4 or lower monster in addition to this monster. and the monster I summon is another Marauding Captain." Russo grinned "you know, when there are 2 Marauding Captains on a field at a time, neither one can be attacked right? they defend each other from your attacks" Russo said "just as me and my associates do. this deck really suits me, I know you won't let me down guys" Russo mumbled to himself
"I set one card Facedown, and then end my turn." Russo said with the respectful smile returning to his face

A lock in the first turn is something to be admired, but then again, the only reason that Yuzuki didn't do anything during her opponent's turn was because her deck actually has multiple ways to break said lock, and she just needed to figure out what the best course of action is to break it. Still though, his speech was inspiring enough to bring a small smile to herself, however slight. Now though, it's time to rain down on the Don's little parade.
"A lock in the first turn, very nice. However, it's time to break it, I shall activate my face-down card, Ghostrick Panic." As she said that, her face-down monster, Ghostrick Kyonshee, was suddenly flipped face-up, and as if surprised, one of the Marauding Captains hid himself into face-down defense position. She looked amused and stated, "Guess even a cute ghost coming out of nowhere can cause panic. Either way, I also get my monster's effect. Since I am controlling 1 Ghostrick monster, I can search my deck for a Level 1 Ghostrick monster to add to my hand. Let's see now... I choose Ghostrick Lantern."
Now that stage one is complete, time for stage two. "Time for my normal summon, and I call upon Tour Guide from the Underworld. When this one appears, it will grab a friend from my deck, which is another Tour Guide." As both fiends appeared on the field, Yuzuki said, "But they will not be around for too long, for I shall use them to call upon my ace monster. XYZ summon, Rank 3 Ghostrick Alucard." The two guides disappeared, and in their place stood a white-haired vampire. "I shall detach a material from Alucard to destroy your set M/T." A cloud of black smoke appeared around said card, and soon, it was destroyed. The card turned out to be Mirror Force.
Stage two is over without a hitch, and now its' time for stage three. "First, I will activate my field spell, Ghostrick House." The field then turn into something that looks like some kind of amusement park haunted house attraction, kind of cute but ominous at the same time. Then she turned her Kyonshee into attack position. With this, the stage is set for the battle phase. "Alucard, attack Marauding Captain." The zombie moved towards the warrior and slashed at the captain, destroying him. "Finally, since all you have are face-down monsters, Kyonshee can attack directly via the effect of the field spell." With that, Kyonshee hopped over the face-down monster and gave her opponent a gentle little chop before hopping back. As a finale, Yuzuki set 1 card in the m/t zone and flipped her Kyonshee back to face-down defense position. "Your move."

Don Russo was perplexed by this "unique" play style "in all my years its just been upfront straight to the point power vs power. but this... is well.. different I hardly know what to do next" Russo said perplexed by this decks play style. as Russo's lifepoint counter clicked down to 7000.
"It's my turn now, I draw" Russo said as he pulled another card into his hand. "this may just work" Russo thought "I shall flip my marauding captain back into face up attack mode. Then I will summon out one of my favorite monsters. Come out Don Zaloog" Russo knew that as of right now he could not destroy Alucard yet, but he still had 2 cards left in his hand, with any luck those cards would help him out.

This time, her opponent summoned yet another monster with a troublesome effect. Still though, since the new monster cannot break through Alucard, there really is no need to worry and thus, she said, "Will let that summon slide for the time being, I guess."

"Good now that I have your attention. it's time for another Scorpion to make your appearance" Russo said with a smile "with your indulgence, I activate the spell card Mustering of the Dark Scorpions, it allows me to special summon any monster from from my hand that has Dark Scorpion in its name with the exception of Cliff the Trap Remover" Russo explained "threw that card effect I special summon Dark Scorpion Gorg the Strong" (level 5 1800 attack 1500 Defense)

Seeing her opponent use up his entire hand is making her smile, as the cards her hand are a lot better with less things to worry about. With a rather mischievous grin, she replied, "No chains, do continue."

"I'm sure no longer having cards in my hand. Makes you feel safer." Russo said taking note of her reaction "I don't really want to give up my monster so soon. But I need your monster gone, nothing personal you see" Russo said steadily. "go forth Gorg. Destroy Ghosttrick Alucard. heavy hammer attack" Russo said as Gorg picked up his hammer and rushed toward Alucard.

While a bit regretful, Yuzuki let Alucard be destroyed in the suicidal attack. At this very moment, what she need is actually some more defense power since her opponent's monsters like to get their effect from battle damage. As her monster is destroyed, she looked at her opponent, she said, "Very well, Alucard and your monster both hits the graveyard, however, I have two effects that I can activate due to this. First up, when Alucard is sent to the Graveyard, I can add 1 Ghostrick card from my Graveyard to my hand. I will add the only one there is, Ghostrick Panic." As soon as she stated that, she put the trap card back into her hand. "Second is..." before she finished her sentence, a cloud of smoke appeared. As it cleared, a ghost like monster with its tongue sticking out appeared on the field, and soon set itself into face-down defense position. "... Ghostrick Specter's effect. When a Ghostrick that I control is destroyed, it can Special set itself on the field, not to mention granting me the ability to draw a card." Grinning again, she followed by saying, "One card destroyed, got to special summon 1 card, draw 1 card, and get 1 card from the Graveyard, awesome, no?"

"quite awesome indeed" he heaved a chuckle, "now because of your field spell, all your monsters are in face down defense so Don Zaloog Attacks your directly, granted the damage would be halved, but he will still get his effect all the same. Double Blast Attack!" Don Zaloog put his swords down and pulled out double pistols from his holsters, took aim at Yuzuki and pulled both triggers

As her opponent declared his attack, something akin to a will-o-wisp surrounded by fog appeared. Eventually, as the fog dissipates, it is revealed to be Ghostrick Lantern. Yuzuki explained, "Same deal with Ghostrick Specter, except I can Special set Lantern when my opponent declares a direct attack. Oh, and it negates the attack as well." After she said that, the pumpkin monster disappeared and in its place, a face-down monster in defense.

Russo frowned as his attack was negated "no disrespect intended mam, but anyone tell you your deck is really annoying?" he said half heartedly. "you have negated Zaloog's attack. but the Captain is still clear to engage. Marauding Captain Direct Attack" Russo declared

"Well, they are called Ghostricks for a reason, emphasis on trick." Yuzuki replied rather nonchalantly, even though she had nothing to stop her opponent's monster's direct attack. The monster approached for the direct attack, but only delivered it at half power since he isn't a ghostrick monster. After the attack, there doesn't seem like her opponent can do anything, but still, out of the gesture of him being a pretty good sport, she asked, "Do you end?"

"I end my turn now." only partially satisfied with his attack. He would have prefered doing damaged with Don Zaloog, as to activate his effect. But "any damage is better than no damage I suppose" Russo thought.

As her opponent ended, she glanced at the field, then at her hand. Noting that she is in quite a good position, Yuzuki proceeded to draw her next card. "First off, I am going to flip summon my Ghostrick Lantern and Ghostrick Specter." As she said that, both monster popped up on the field once again, this time in attack position. Then she flip summoned Kyonshee and stated, "Now that I control 3 Ghostrick monsters, I can search my deck for a level 3 Ghostrick monster, and I choose Ghostrick Stein, which I will normal summon right now." After summoning the monster, she activated Swords of Concealing Light from her hand. Black swords fell onto her opponent's side of the field, causing all his monsters to be set in face-down defense position. "With this on the field, you monsters are now set, which means... I can attack directly with all four of my monsters." With that, all her monsters move forward for their direct attack, which dealt a total of 3400 life points damage. "Since Ghostrick Stein dealt damage, I can add a Ghostrick spell or trap to my hand, and I choose Ghostrick House as a back-up plan." As she finished her turn by setting 1 card in the m/t zone and setting all her monsters with their effects, she commented, "Just a notification, if you draw a monster next turn, you lose. Anyways, your turn."

Don Russo stammered at the amount of damage he received in the preceding turn "so matter of factly stated" Russo said flatly as he prepared to draw. "back up against the wall, no moves to make. this is not how I planned to make my tournament entrance "its my turn I draw" Russo looked at the card he drew. it was in fact a monster. he looked at it for a moment "I will not disgrace you "tiny" by summoning you to my pathetic field. I will save you from that shame." Russo said softly "looks like you win, I would say it was a good duel. but I hardly did nary a scratch. your deck is good. I have a feeling you will go far. very far." Russo said with a soft smile "I end my turn. I appreciate the opportunity to see your deck. it was quite different that what I had anticipated" he said admitting that this was the end of the line for him

Yuzuki tipped her hat towards her opponent again, this time in respect. Unlike some duelist that she has seen, he was really a good sport, not to mention it's clear that he does hold his deck in high regard by not summoning a monster at an impossible situation. Not to mention that 'tiny' wasn't directed at her, so she does feel better already. That said though, she has a duel to finish. She drew her next card and said, "Thanks for the complement, best of luck in the next round as well."
Then, she flipped all her monsters to attack position, followed by using Kyonshee's effect. "I control 4 monsters, so I can search for a level 4 or less Ghostrick monster, and I choose Ghostrick Witch and will Normal Summon her." The monster appeared, wearing clothes that's quite similar to Yuzuki herself. "Now, all 5 of my monsters attack directly for the game." With that, the match is sealed and the only thing left to say to her opponent is, "Thanks for the match."
